Africa's young people most generous 'givers' to the less privileged - research

CEO at Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa, Gill Bates speaks to 702's Azania Mosaka about a survey conducted on patterns of giving, around the world.

The World Giving Index was done in 9 countries on 6 continents and Africa outperformed the West in all generosity behaviours, she says.

The survey shows that young people between 18 and 24 years of age are the highest givers, assisting those in need.

What we were measuring essentially was three generosity behaviors - giving money, giving time and helping a stranger.

The interesting thing is that money is no longer the only measurable, time is really now becoming a commodity to be reckoned with.
