ANC's Pule Mabe: We must allow space for fruitful engagement to take place

National spokesperson for the African National Congress (ANC), Pule Mabe says a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for next week will look to resolve public uncertainty over President Jacob Zuma's future.

On Wednesday, ANC Veterans' League president, Snuki Zikalala deduced from the sudden cancellation of this week's NEC meeting, that the President is set to resign within seven days.

Mabe has dismissed Zikalala's statements.

He says people should allow space for fruitful engagement to take place.

We have already conveyed a firm message to the extent that the president of the ANC and President of the Republic have had constructive and fruitful engagements, and that the National Executive Committee will be meeting next week. The decision and resolve it takes in that meeting will be conveyed to the general public.

Pule Mabe, National spokesperson for the African National Congress (ANC)

I have high respect for veterans of the ANC, I do not speak for structures of the ANC. I speak for the ANC.

Pule Mabe, National spokesperson for the African National Congress (ANC)

As has been conveyed, we must allow the space for the fruitful and constructive engagements that is being undertaken. We are alive to the issues in the country and that whatever resolve and conclusion is made, shall be one that brings the country together.
