Managing Director of Sansa Space Operations Raoul Hodges talks about South African's involvement in space programmes.

Managing Director of Sansa Space Operations Raoul Hodges spoke to Ray White on The Midday Report.

Hodges explains South Africa's space agency and says these advances are monitored.

He says South Africa is planning to build a satellite.

The South African Space Agency has a programme called EO-Sat1, busy building a commercial earth observation satellite to be launched in 2019.

It can be used to project things like drought.

And the point of the Falcon Heavy?

There's two reasons for the Falcon Heavy - one, going to mars, and two, it is to make it commercially cheaper to launch satellites.
