Microsoft ranks South Africans second rudest in the digital world
Microsoft has released the digital civility index report where it tested 23 countries raging from developing to developed countries. Shockingly, South Africa has been ranked 22nd on the report.
Are people behaving in a particular way, looking at things in a compassionate way, empathising with people, politeness, kindness when they are going online?Kethan Parbhoo, Chief Operations and Marketing Officer at Microsoft SA
Parbhoo says, unfortunately, South Africa scores much higher than the other countries in areas that were surveyed when it comes to things such as hate speech, discrimination, and hoaxes.
He says that this puts the country in a difficult position, as people are getting scammed and defrauded by clicking on links online.
People are using social media to engage with you even if you don't want to engage with them.Kethan Parbhoo, Chief Operations and Marketing Officer at Microsoft SA
Parbhoo also says that the report showed that more people are taking advantage of the digital world and use social media to engage with others while in a non-digital world they would not be able to do so.
