Having the ANC NEC vote on recalling President Jacob Zuma has major risks for ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa, political analyst Melanie Verwoerd says.
Ramaphosa postponed the special NEC sitting to decide No.1's fate, amid talks between himself and Zuma.
Verwoerd says that while Ramaphosa may be good at negotiating "behind-the-scenes deals", the nation has been left out of the loop about Zuma's demands.
She says that if Zuma has not agreed to step down before next week, the NEC meeting scheduled for 17 and 18 Feb would have to vote him out.
Verwoerd also considers the possibility that Zuma may have a secret trump card he is using to blackmail the ANC.
