Alberto Contador soldiers on in the Giro

As niggling injuries plague some of the bigger Super Rugby teams, Dr van Heerden lamented the impact that a lengthy season in the Southern Hemisphere can have - especially in a World Cup year! By comparison the European rugby leagues are pretty much tied up.

In English football, Hull, Newcastle and Sunderland are fighting it out in the relegation zone - all three with injury worries. Meanwhile in Spain, Real and Atletico went to war - the one without a captain, the other without a key striker.

And in cycling - Alberto Contador continues to fight the pain from injuries sustained in the Giro d' Italia...
