I want to get SA skiing on the map - Alpine skier Connor Wilson at Winter Games

Alpine skier Connor Wilson says he hopes to increase the visibility of competitive skiing in South Africa.

Wilson has been representing SA at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and is the only athlete to fly the flag this year.

The 21-year-old says he wants to inspire other young South Africans to participate in the Winter Olympics one day.

Things have been really going well.

I've been training the past couple of days.

The conditions are quite harsh up here, but I'm acclimatising well. I'm really enjoying it.

I want to get South African skiing on the map and give kids the confidence to try it out and get into ski racing and hopefully one day get to the Olympics as I am doing now.
