Cosatu welcomes ANC caucus decision

Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) says it welcomes the decisions emanating from the ANC Parliamentary caucus meeting.

ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu said during the media briefing in Parliament that if President Jacob Zuma does not resign on Wednesday, a motion of no confidence will be passed on Thursday and a new President elected.

Cosatu spokesperson, Sizwe Pamla says they've been calling on the ANC not to waste time, but be decisive and put the country first.

The deadline that's been set is going to help in terms of us moving forward as a country and the economy.

We do hope that Jacob Zuma is not going to drag the country through these processes, it is unnecessary. We hope sanity will prevail and that he will just step down so that we can all move on.
