WC drought threatens livelihoods of seasonal workers - Agri WC

Many seasonal workers have lost out on work this harvesting season due to the drought and damaged crops, says Agri Western Cape.

CEO Carl Opperman says that many livestock farms are trying their best to keep their farm workers.

Opperman explains that many farmers in the Swartland area, considered to be the country's breadbasket, have battled to cover their costs and are in debt due to poor wheat harvests.

We're trying to curtail the job losses at this point. It's more of the seasonal workers [who are affected].
