Free State DA file urgent application for no-confidence vote against Magashule

The Democratic Alliance in the Free State has filed an urgent application to get Provincial Legislature Speaker, Mamiki Qabathe to table a motion of no confidence against Premier Ace Magashule.

The party approached the Free State High Court on Tuesday.

DA provincial leader in the Free State, Roy Jankielsohn says there are a number of issues that need to be discussed regarding Magashule's fitness to hold office.

He was elected secretary- general of the ANC in December which is a full time position and then of course there is the other issue of the controversial Vrede dairy project, and this happened under his watch. We feel that he was complicit in his actions.

There are a number of other issues. There is a legislature complex, R120 million was spent there and there is nothing to show for it. A controversial R 95 million website.

Jankielsohn says a new premier should deliver the State of the Province address.

He has indicated that he is going to vacate office, why should the province spend over R2 million on a State of the Province address. Why should we spend money on a SOPA which is basically grandstanding on a farewell party for a Premier who already said he is going to vacate office.
