Police have launched a manhunt to find those responsible for the death five police officers and one retired soldier at Ngcobo Police Station in the Eastern Cape.
Eastern Cape Saps spokesperson Khaya Tonjeni says a group of armed men barged into the police station and fired shots at the officers on duty.
Two officers were abducted and taken away in a stolen police vehicle only later to be found shot dead execution-style outside Ngcobo perimeters.
On the way out of town the criminals managed to rob a bank and shot a retired soldier who was in the streets doing his business. The number of people killed is six and two members were taken to hospital were they received medical attention.— Khaya Tonjeni, Eastern Cape Saps spokesperson
Tonjeni says the five female members were taken to a different room while the shooting of male members was taking place.
The females are currently receiving post-trauma comfort from social workers.
Ten firearms were stolen and the motive for the shooting is still unknown. Investigations are ongoing that could lead to the possible arrest of these men, says Tonjeni.
