Opposition parties have intensified calls for President Ramaphosa to fire Minister of Public Enterprises Lynne Brown.
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwabane says Brown misled Parliament when she said a local consultancy firm, linked to business friends of former President Jacob Zuma, had no contracts with power utility Eskom.
Mkhwabane has given President Ramaphosa 14 days in which to take action against Brown.
Business Day Political Editor Natasha Marrian says in order to have the 'new dawn' he has spoken about, Ramaphosa must get rid of certain ministers.
He will have to remove some really bad elements and its a non-negotiable. Ministers like Mosebenzi Zwane, who may face charges over the Estina dairy farm project.— Natasha Marrian, Business Day Political Editor
Marrian says the minister has passed the blame to Eskom in a statement she released regarding the issue.
She is basically shaking off responsibility onto Eskom, as it has been a trend with minister Brown in all the State Capture allegations so far.— Natasha Marrian, Business Day Political Editor
