Nathan Mallinson crowned 2018 Dis-Chem Brain of 702 Champion

We've seen some tough battles take place over the last couple of weeks with the biggest fact fanatics showing off their skill in hope of winning the Dischem Brain of 702 title for 2018. The grand finale took place at Menlyn Park in Pretoria and it was 30 year old Nathan Mallinson from Bryanston who claimed victory.

Nathan certainly brought his A-game as he whisked through the the last quarter final round in Menlyn scoring himself R5 000 and then a further R15 000 cash prize when he was crowned the overall Brain of 702 champ as he faced off the other winners from the previous mall activations.

The atmosphere was exhilarating as spectators came out in numbers to show support and witness all the nail biting action. It was a fun-filled event where players and audiences also got to mingle with their favourite 702 presenters including The Money Show's Bruce Whitfield who was the MC for the day.

Eusebius Mckaiser and Early Breakfast's Relebogile were the judges for the day making sure no stone was left unturned in the attempt to crown the ultimate 702 fact fanatic.

Nathan was given 90 seconds to answer a train of 25 questions from Bongani Bingwa who was the quiz-master for the day. He beat chemical engineer Motlatsi Mabaso, Wits student Sinazo Magadlela and civil servant Thabiso Maapes.

The annual competition gives those with a brilliant bank of general knowledge a chance to cash in and show off, both on-air and in front of a live audience at the weekly mall activations.

However, this is not where the action ends, the Brain of 702 winner Nathan Mallinson will take on Brain of Cape Talk winner Matthew Vass in a fast paced, nail biting clash that will take place on Monday 26 February live on Breakfast with Bongani Bingwa at 7:10am. Tune in to hear these two champions do battle and claim the Dis-Chem Brain of Brains title with a cash prize of R20 000 up for grabs.

May the best brain take the claim!
