[LISTEN] Abrahams remains NDPP despite withdrawal of appeal - expert

On Friday, President Cyril Ramaphosa withdrew the president’s appeal against a High Court judgment that NPA boss Shaun Abrahams should vacate his position.

Former president Jacob Zuma previously appealed the ruling by the High Court in Pretoria.

Gugulethu Mhlungu, standing in for Stephen Grootes, spoke to Constitutional law expert Pierre de Vos to understand recent developments in the case.

The important thing to remember is that the entire appeal has not been withdrawn because there are different parties to this case. Some of them have not withdrawn any of the proceedings so it is still going to be heard by the Constitutional court.

Because there is still an appeal pending from some quarters, once you lodge the appeal then the effect of the High Court judgement is suspended.

Meanwhile Casac's Lawson Naidoo says they are concerned over a move by Abrahams to announce his decision on whether to prosecute former President Jacob Zuma, saying a newly appointed NDPP should do so.
