This is only the beginning for those implicated in state capture - Jacques Pauw

The author of The President's Keepers has been speaking about the book's success four months after it was released.

Jacques Pauw's controversial bestseller has sold close to 130 000 copies since hitting the shelves in October.

The book contains damning allegations about former president Jacob Zuma and the 'compromised power networks' within his government.

Pauw was threatened with legal action for publishing details from "private" tax records.

But how are book sales fairing now that Zuma has resigned and President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken over the reigns?

Kieno Kammies caught up with Pauw on Wednesday's breakfast show.

We are still doing the launches and I do book festivals and people pack the rooms and the halls - people are still very interested.

Jacques Pauw, author, The President's Keepers

Although Cyril Ramaphosa has become the president and Zuma is gone, a lot of those implicated in state capture still lurk in the law enforcement agency and the SOEs. This is only the beginning of the battle.

Jacques Pauw, author, The President's Keepers

I personally think we will be able to make headway if Ramaphosa brings back the old guard like Shadrack Sibiya, Anwa Dramat and Johan Booysen... there isn't enough time to train a new wave of The Hawks and crime intelligence - we need them back immediately.

Jacques Pauw, author, The President's Keepers

Despite the huge success of the book, Pauw says he doesn't imagine it will last forever.

I think it has a limited shelf life. I don't think it can be easily updated.
