[LISTEN] Everything you wanted to know about forensics

Through popular television shows like CSI and NCIS, forensics has become very glamorised, with many people interested in understanding what it is all about.

In this week's Masterclass, 702 Host Azania Mosaka spoke to Professor Gerard Labuschagne to find out more about what forensics entails - specifically forensic psychology.

Labuschagne is the director of L&S Threat Management and was formerly Section Head of the South African Police Service's specialised Investigative Psychology Section for 14 years.

For Labuschagne forensic psychology boils down to applying psychological input to the justice system, whether its the civil system or the criminal justice system.

Most people, when you talk about forensic work, are mostly doing court evidence. It is very rare to have people who advise the police on investigations - even throughout the world.

Prof. Gerard Labuschagne, Director at L&S Threat Management
