Property owners have until April 6 to lodge evaluation objections

Speaking to Bongani Bingwa, the Deputy Director of Evaluation at the City of Johannesburg, Piet Eloff, says property owners have until April 6 to lodge objections on their property evaluations.

This comes after outrage from property owners over evaluations that have sky rocketed with evaluations dating back to 2012.

Callers have highlighted that evaluations are not in line with the market and that the City's online system doesn't work. Eloff said the previous evaluation roll might have undervalued some properties.

There is a five year difference between the two evaluation dates.

We have aerial photography, one of the tools we use to measure the property as part of our data collection. This includes the building plans, and where we can't see the property, we do site inspections or view it from the outside.
