Why men get 'moobs' and how to fix it

Breast specialist Dr Carol-Ann Benn spoke to Azania Mosaka about what are often termed man boobs or 'moobs'.

She says during puberty, boys develop 'stonies' - a hard lump behind the breast - which often goes away as they get older, but sometimes does not.

The causes of 'moobs' are physiological or modifiable she says. Anabolic steroids, alcohol consumption, dagga or it can be under-active fibroid and testicular tumors are all causes of the condition.

Alcohol gets broken down secondary in the liver, if you are drinking everyday and not counteracting it with exercise, you can get male breast development.
