Booming agriculture boosts South African economy to grow at 3.1%

South Africa’s economy grew by 3.1% in the fourth quarter of last year.

Growth was largely driven by agriculture, which grew by 37.5%.

Agriculture was up 41.1% in the third quarter of 2017.

For the full year (2017) the economy grew by 1.3%, up from 0.6% in 2016, beating Treasury’s forecast.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed Econometrix Chief Economist Dr Azar Jammine.
