EFF accuses state capture inquiry's Nombembe's of bribery

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) held a press conference at its headquarters in Braamfontein on Wednesday.

At the media briefing, EFF president Julius Malema discussed different issues, including the listeriosis outbreak, Nelson Mandela Bay politics, expropriation of land without compensation, and its dissatisfaction with the appointment of Terrence Nombembe as one of the key investigators for the state capture inquiry.

Speaking to The Afternoon Drive with Stephen Grootes, EWN reporter, Hitekani Magwedza who attended the briefing, reported that Malema expressed his concerns on the appointment of Nombembe.

Malema cited that as the CEO of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, Nombembe failed to respond to his party's questions about a donation of 1.2 million made by Trillian Capital which is a Gupta-linked company.

He said when the EFF tried to question Nombembe about this, he wanted to rather call the EFF and respond to them that way and have a discussion with them. Malema says he sees this as Nombembe trying to bribe the EFF out of answering the question.

Malema said the EFF just wants a capable person for Nelson Mandela Bay municipality and that it's not about any political party, reports Magwedza. Malema said it is high time that Mcebisi Jonas is rewarded for having refused a bribe from the Gupta family.

Malema says there is a movement that is against land expropriation without compensation and he described this movement as right wing formation.
