DA Chief Whip John Steenhuisen comments on the failure of minister's to appear in parliament this week.

John Steenhuisen , John Steenhuisen has described the absence of International Relations Minister Lindiwe Sisulu and Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba in Wednesday's plenary, as a 'poor state of affairs'.

Both minister's failed to appear for a question sessions where the Peace and Security cluster of ministers were expected to respond in parliament.

Gigaba provided a sick note excusing him from the plenary, but Sisulu was nowhere to be found.

Steenhuisen has described their actions as a type of contempt for parliament.

We still have no idea where Minister Sisulu was. It is a very poor state of affairs and a terrible first day out for the Ramaphosa administration, that this is the type of contempt that the ministers are showing for parliament and for their constitutional duty to account through parliament to the people of South Africa.

John Steenhuisen, DA Chief Whip

He says Gigaba needs to answer.

This cloud of doubt is going to hang over every single decision he makes, we just simply don't believe a word he says because it seems he is just pathologically incapable of leveling and being straight with the South African public.

John Steenhuisen, DA Chief Whip

Steenhusien says the party will be laying a charge of contempt with the speakers office.
