The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) urges South Africans to come in their numbers this weekend and register to vote.
Speaking to The Midday Report's Ray White, Terry Tselane, IEC vice chairperson, said the process provides a platform for South Africans to register. Particularly those who have not registered before, but also those who have moved houses to make sure that they register in the areas where they are now staying, he adds.
It also important that I locate this in the context of the judgment of the Constitutional Court judgment, ahead of the 2016 local government elections. In terms of that judgment, we are required to have the addresses of everyone who is on our voters roll.— Terry Tselane, IEC Vice Chairperson
