Police apprehend three of six Pollsmoor prison escapees

Three of the six inmates who escaped from Pollsmoor Prison in the Western Cape have been rearrested.

On Sunday night, six inmates escaped from Pollsmoor Prison's medium B section by forcing their way through burglar bars.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the men used components of a bed to remove the steel bars over a window.

Regional Commissioner of Correctional Services in the province Delekile Klaas says police are still processing the arrests, reports EWN's Kevin Brandt.

The escape has raised questions about security and surveillance at the prison facility, and an internal investigation has been launched.
