Stephen Grootes spoke to India based freelance journalist, Venkat Narayan to find out more.

Narayan says he has spoken to the Indian government to confirm the brother's citizenship status.

He says a family confidante has informed him of their whereabouts.

My question to the government of India was if the Gupta's home has been raided and one of their confidantes says that these guys are hiding in Dubai, India has an extradition treaty with Dubai, are you going to seek their extradition?

The spokesman of the government of India said they are not Indian citizens, they are South African citizens and it is up to the authorities of South African to take it up with the authorities in Dubai and they have not approached us so far.
