Ipid is asking police why it met with a supplier who is under investigation

Eyewitness News senior reporter Barry Bateman says EWN has obtained surveillance footage that confirms that late last year, senior police management met with a Saps supplier who is the subject of a fraud and corruption investigation.

Speaking to Ray White on The Midday Report, Bateman says in November last year, the police watchdog and the Inspector-General of Intelligence raided I-view Integrated Solutions’ offices in Durban, as well as the Crime Intelligence head offices in Pretoria, because they suspected that evidence relating to a fraud and corruption investigation was being destroyed.

We are asking just on the face of it; provide an explanation why this meeting is taking place. Why these particular individuals need to meet with that particular supplier, and why this meeting is taking place at a hotel, not at the headquarters?

Bateman says Saps has not provided answers to these questions. He says this matter is also before the standing committee on public accounts in parliament.

Ipid is asking the same questions we are asking and they have gone on record saying they find it strange that police generals would honor an invitation from a director of a company that is under investigation and go ahead and meet with him.
