Political analyst professor Lesiba Teffo shares his views on the suspension of Sars commissioner Tom Moyane.

As more details emerge about last night's suspension of Sars boss Tom Moyane, one political commentator says he should have offered to resign.

Speaking to Bongani Bingwa, Professor Teffo says he could have cited the negative impact of allegations against him as the reason for his resignation.

President Ramaphosa suspended the Sars head on Monday , citing the deterioration of public confidence in the institution and public finances being compromised as the reasons for his decision.

I'm fairly happy that we are seeing some actions that may restore the credibility of state institutions that took a serious knock during the previous leadership.

Professor Lesiba Teffo, Political analyst

National Treasury said in a statement on Tuesday that Mark Kingon has been appointed as the acting SARS commissioner following the suspension of Moyane.

Meanwhile Professor Teffo has also weighed in on City of Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille's very public spat with the DA, saying her continued protests give him a sense that she is hiding something.

A disciplinary hearing against de Lille is set to start today.

A DA federal executive meeting in January this year resolved that she should face charges for the bringing the party into disrepute.
