Deputy President David Mabuza answers questions in Parliament

The new Deputy President David Mabuza is wrapping up his maiden question and answer session in the National Assembly.

The new Leader of Government Business has been quizzed on a number of issues, including illicit financial flows, social cohesion and violence against women.

He as apparently defended African National Congress (ANC) MP Mduduzi Manana, who was convicted and sentenced for assaulting a woman last year, saying the ANC doesn’t discard those who have been found on the wrong side of the law and would rather rehabilitate them.

Eyewitness News reporter Babalo Ndenze was in parliament.

It's the supplementary questions that have really brought interesting responses.

He is actually handling it pretty well, he has a constant smile on his face when you look at him. Especially when he was asked about political matters which involve him indirectly in a way. There were objections that people were casting aspersions on him as an individual but his response was quite simple on that.
