Journalist involved in 'scuffle' with EFF's Floyd Shivambu will press charges

The journalist who found himself on the end of a very hot-headed Floyd Shivambu on Tuesday says he will be laying charges against the Economic Freedom Fighter's deputy president.

Shivambu was caught on camera harassing Netwerk 24's Adrian de Kock outside Parliament on Tuesday, demanding that he delete a picture de Kock had taken of him.

Speaking to Bongani Bingwa, de Kock says he had visible evidence identifying him as a journalist and he did not provoke Shivambu.

I think justice needs to be done, I don't think it's right. I mean, I did nothing to provoke him. He can't all of a sudden use his ego on me.

Shivambu since apologised for his actions in a statement, saying he takes full responsibility for the altercation.

It's not the first time the EFF deputy president has been involved in a row with a journalist.

In 2011, Shivambu faced legal action for calling journalist Carien du Plessis a “white bitch”.
