Employees need to be able to set themselves apart in today's highly competitive work environment, says recruitment specialist Zanele Luvuno.
Luvuno argues that employee retention is the responsibility of both the employer and the employee.
She advises that employees need to be proactive by investing in their ongoing development.
For example, she says attending conferences, workshops, trade shows and any other opportunities to gain industry knowledge, will be beneficial.
Luvuno also advises that individuals should match themselves with employers with aligning value propositions, instead of taking any job offer.
