Claims of threatening phone calls to Eskom inquiry chair

Parliament's Public Enterprises Committee says it will now issue a summons on the Gupta brothers, the former president's son Duduzane Zuma and former South African Airways board chairperson, Dudu Myeni before its inquiry into Eskom.

Chairperson of the inquiry Zukiswa Rantho says residential addresses provided to the Independent Electoral Commission will be used.

Eyewitness News reporter Lindsay Dentlinger has more on the story.

They have decided to use addresses provided to the IEC given that we know that the Guptas are registered voters in South Africa, to deliver those summonses. The chairperson of the committee Zukiswa Rantho was telling me they will put it in their letterboxes if needs be.

Same goes for Dudu Myeni who has been refusing to give Parliament her residential address and the son of former president Jacob Zuma, Duduzane Zuma who the committee also wants to hear from.

Rantho has told Dentlinger that she has received threatening phone calls from someone accusing the committee of being biased.

She told me she had received a threatening phone call over the weekend where somebody claimed that the committee had fed a line of information which purportedly was given to them by Minister Pravin Gordhan and that it had not listened to information from other sources.
