Lucy Beard is the co-owner of Hope on Hopkins, Cape Town’s first artisanal distillery.
Beard, who formerly practiced as a lawyer in London, has a team that handcrafts spirits by using an age old process of batch distillation.
Hope on Hopkins produces three quality gins:
London Dry Gin
Salt River Gin
- Mediterranean Gin
It also makes small quantities of vodka and a 100% agave spirit, Esperanza (which they’re not allowed to call tequila).
Hope on Hopkins also designs, distils and produces gins for other brands.
It’s one of the few distilleries in the world that uses barley as the base for its spirits.
