Political Desk: Analyst discuss EFF motion of no confidence against Trollip

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) held opposing rallies in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday, a day before the EFF’s motion of no confidence in Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip.

Two of the smaller parties, the Patriotic Alliance (PA) and the African Independent Congress (AIC), have reportedly pledged support for the beleaguered mayor.

Speaking to Bongani Bingwa, political analyst Sithembile Mbete, says the Patriotic Alliance made their announcement on the basis of the ANC supporting what it sees as the EFF's racist statements towards Trollip.

The party is now throwing its weight behind the DA.

The AIC interestingly declared its support of Athol Trollip on the basis of the ANC not fulfilling the promises it made last year around the move of Matatiele back to KZN and away from the Eastern Cape.
