Residents can claim from the City of Tshwane after flooding

Speaking to Aubrey Masango on The Afternoon Drive, Darryl Moss MMC for Service Infrastructure in the City of Tshwane says residents can claim from the city for damages incurred from water damage.

This comes after Rand Water notified the City that they would be shutting down the water supply to the Moreleta Park, Garsfontein, and surrounding regions in Tshwane for maintenance.

This meant that we were not going to get water into the reservoirs for very long periods. So what we did, we set about a programme of filling all our reservoirs in that area to the brim.

Darryl Moss , MMC Service Infrastructure at City of Tshwane

He explains the telemetry system at the Vickers Street Reservoir, which is supposed to provide an automatic shut-off on the feed to the reservoir, malfunctioned and the pipeline kept feeding water into the reservoir with disastrous consequences.

He said people that have suffered damage due to this, are at liberty to claim from the City. He said residents affected should call Karin Du Plessis on 012 358-8041 and they can also email her on Karindp@Tshwane.gov.za
