The Public Protector has asked the Standing Committee on Public Accounts to investigate allegations of corruption relating to the delayed Winnie Madikizela-Mandela museum project in Brandfort in the Free State. Mam' Winnie spent years in isolation under house arrest in the small town.
Scopa chairperson Themba Godi said somebody must be held accountable for the project.
I don't think it's that complicated when we have to look for answers. Money was budgeted, money was allocated, there was expenditure.— Themba Godi, Scopa chairperson
Where are the expenditure records, who got the money and where did it go?— Themba Godi, Scopa chairperson
Godi says when they investigate matters beyond the political space it is very easy. He says the public must be patient but they will start investigating soon.
