Chronic illnesses may have doubled over past 9 years

Discovery Health says the number of its members with at least one chronic disease has more that doubled in the last 9 years.

Speaking to Thembekile Mrototo on The Midday Report, CEO at Discovery Health Dr Jonathan Broomberg said it is really about lifestyle and too many people are not physically active.

We are eating the wrong foods, not sleeping enough, working too hard and if you add all of those things up that is the answer to the question.

He said high blood pressure , high cholesterol, asthma, and diabetes are the main chronic diseases that have increased and make a big impact.
