Tips on how to ensure that your career is on the right track

How much thought have you put into the trajectory of your career?

Career pathing is the process used by an employee to chart a course within an organisation or industry for their career path and career development.

Recruitment specialist Frances Kazan says career pathing should ideally be the mutual responsibility of both the employee and the employer.

Kazan adds that career pathing should be a continuous journey and that the employee should always try to show initiative.

At the same time, she argues that companies who do not practice career pathing have a high rate of employee turnover.

Career pathing requires an understanding of what knowledge, skills, personal traits, and experience is needed for an employee to progress their career laterally, or through promotions and transfers.

We believe career pathing must start before you even hire somebody.
