R52M worth of copper cables stolen in Tshwane in 6 months

Tshwane Executive Mayor Solly Msimanga says drastic measures must be taken to address the issue of cable theft in the city.

The mayor delivered his State of the City address on Wednesday.

Msimanga says the city has lost over R52 million worth of copper cable.

We are saying as the City of Tshwane, we need to do something about it. This is why I have put together a meeting with other mayors. We will be then be impressing on the national government and the provincial to come on board with us because what it looks like, is the South African Police Services is not taking the matter seriously.
