New Cape of Good Hope SPCA head Mqabuko Ndukwana shares his love of animals

The SPCA Cape of Good hope branch has a new CEO.

Mqabuko Ndukwana holds an Honours degree in Animal Science and a BPhil in Sustainable Development. He also has various qualifications in Financial Management and Project Management.

However, Ndukwana is not new to the organisation, and has been with the SPCA for the past 12 years.

He speaks to CapeTalk's Pippa Hudson about his love for animals and what's in store for the SPCA with him at the helm.

Growing up as a child I just had this passion for animals. I felt my life needed to have a meaningful effect in their welfare and well-being. Biology was one of my favourite subjects, so I knew that whatever I was going to do in life there was going to be a component of animals involved in my future.

Mqabuko Ndukwana, New CEO of Cape of Good Hope SPCA

If we have the values of compassion and empathy instilled in us, we are going to realise that animals feels pain and discomfort.

Cruelty to animals takes different forms and there is no cruelty that is harsher than the other. The starting point is in the recognition of the sentience of animals.. we need to increase our sensitivity levels to the feelings of animals.
