Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter Zenani Mandela-Dlamini took her mother's detractors to task during her speech at the funeral.

Mandela-Dlamini questioned why people are coming out now to tell what they believe is the truth about Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's life.

...the world, and particularly the media, which is so directly complicit in the smear campaign against my mother.

We saw so many who sat on the truth come out one by one to say that they had known all along that these things which have been said were not true.

Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter

I had to ask myself, why have they sat on the truth and waited till my mother's death to tell it? It is so difficult to see how they withheld their words during my mother's lifetime knowing very well what they would have meant to her.

Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter

Only now they decided to share the truth after she departed. I think their actions are actions of cruelty because they robbed my mother of her rightful legacy during her lifetime.

Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter

To those of you who vilified my mother through books, social media and speeches, don't think for a minute we've forgotten.

Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter

Mandela-Dlamini says her mother's male counterparts never received this treatment.

[LIVE] Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's funeral

Praising her now that she is gone shows how hypocritical you are. Why didn't you do the same to her male counterparts and remind the world of the many crimes they did before they were called saints.

Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter

She spoke out strongly against a dominated patriarchal society.

It has become clear that South African and the world hold women and men to different standards of morality.
