Karabo Mokoena's friend testifies as Sandile Mantsoe murder trial begins

A friend of alleged murder victim Karabo Mokoena has told the High Court in Johannesburg that she warned her friend about her toxic relationship with Sandile Mantsoe.

Stephanie Leong shared her account of Mokoena's relationship with Mantsoe.

She says she had warned Mokoena about the relationship.

Mantsoe is accused of killing Mokoena and dumping her burnt body in the veld in Lyndhurst last year.

He has pleaded not guilty to three charges.

Mantseo has been accused of three charges - murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm as well as obstructing or defeating the ends of justice by burning Karabo Mokeona's body. His lawyer is countering the murder charge saying Mokoena committed suicide.

Stephani Leong gave an account of Karabo's relationship with Sandile and how in a particular incident, Sandile grabbed Mokoena in the car and started acting violently. She also gave an account of how she had asked Karabo why she did not leave the relationship.
