History revisited: 'We are constantly try to reinterpret historical events'

Head of The History Workshop at Wits Professor Noor Nieftagodien says as historians, they are always looking to re-look at what happened in the past.

Speaking to Azania Mosaka, Professor Nieftagodien says it is fascinating that following the differing views after the screening of the documentary 'Winnie', history is being discussed publicly in a way South Africans have not done before.

There is a constant revisionism that takes place, it's our life blood. We constantly try to reinterpret historical events and this is a critical element that has been missing in the debates.
