Why Mkhwebane's office changed its mind about Estina dairy farm probe

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has confirmed to Parliament that she will now investigate former premier of the Free State, Ace Magashula's alleged role in the Estina dairy farm project.

Advocate Mkhwebane was accused of allowing Magashule and former Free State Agriculture MEC, Msebenzi Zwane to dodge accountability after she released her first report which made no findings against them.

Speaking to Thembekile Mrototo on The Midday Report, Public Protector communications manager, Oupa Segalwe said there was a public uproar over the fact that the initial investigation into the Estina Dairy Project matter had not dealt with the role of politicians, despite the fact that the complainant himself had not made any allegations against the politicians.

Despite that, the Public Protector made adverse findings against the Director-General of the Free State provincial government which is like the highest-ranking official in the provincial government bureaucracy.
