The African National Congress (ANC) struggle stalwart Dr Zola Skweyiya's memorial service was held at the Tshwane Events Centre.
Skweyiya died in hospital on 11 April following a short illness. He was one of the first combatants to join Mkhonto We Sizwe in the struggle against apartheid. Skweyiya will receive a special official funeral.
Speaking to Gugu Mhlungu on The Afternoon Drive, EWN Reporter, Clement Manyathela who attended the memorial service, said the family received messages of support from the SACP's Solly Mapaila who was on stage.
We have also been hearing from some of the grandchildren, that really gave some moving tributes and remembering their grandfather as someone who taught them how to be compassionate, who taught them how to have strength and to persevere.— Clement Manyathela, EWN Reporter
