The Democratic Alliance Western Cape leader Bonginkosi Madikizela says Mayor Patricia De Lille having being part of the leadership of the party should know that internal matters are dealt with internally.
The DA's federal executive on Wednesday agreed to the request made by the party's Cape Town caucus to table an internal motion of no confidence against De Lille as per the party's new rules.
Madikizela says their voters will be informed of the process and decision once everything is concluded.
We can't make rules for certain individuals for certain people who think they are bigger than the party, we can't have that.— Bonginkosi Madikizela, DA's Western Cape leader
Madikizela says there is no reason for the process to be made public because it's an internal matter.
However, De Lille says she is ready to fight and will not give up so easily.
De Lille has been fighting for her hearing to be made public and the DA has refused to do so.
There are only rules for Patricia De Lille and rules for other members of the party.— Patricia De Lille, City of Cape Town Mayor
This is the first time, this clause is designed for me. It's the first time the party is implementing it. This is something new, it has not happened to anybody else before, I'm the guinea pig.— Patricia De Lille, City of Cape Town Mayor
