'The NPA should be ready and re-enroll the matter' - Nel on Malema prosecution

Lobby group AfriForum says it's concerned the NPA says it needs until August to decide whether it will re-enroll it's case against Julius Malema for corruption and fraud charges.

On Thursday the group announced its plans to pursue a private prosecution against the EFF leader.

The group's Head of Private Prosecutions , Gerrie Nel says the decision came after writing to the NPA to inquire about when they were planning to prosecute , since one of Malema's co-accused, who claimed to be ill at the time, appeared now to be in good health.

Malema and two others were accused of unlawfully securing a tender in Limpopo and subsequently accepting bribes to award subcontracts.

The NPA in response has said it needs until August to decide whether they will prosecute or not.

I am very concerned about that because the matter was struck off the roll because one of the co-accused was not fit to proceed with the trial ,so all I need to ask is, is the accused now ready proceed? Is he well enough?

Malema has hit back at AfriForum, saying that he is not afraid of the group, calling them racist.
