Hout Bay resident Tracy-Lee Scott became so frustrated at constantly facing prohibitive renting conditions that she set up a Facebook page hoping to link pet-friendly landlords with tenants.

Tracy says sometimes people just find themselves in difficult situations and some are even forced to give their pets to local animal shelters.

I mean elderly people whose spouses have died and they don't own their homes and now you've got someone who's had their dog who's 12 years old and now they're literally having to give their soul away. It's heartbreaking.
