Creative parenting expert Nikki Bush chats about the impact of pets on a child’s development, and how they can strengthen family ties.
Busy says that she was recently reminded about the importance and value of pets since the loss of her husband.

Bush says that there’s an emotional feedback from engaging with pets because it gives children a sense of stability and security.
There was an orphanage in Rwanda where the children were looked after, but they weren’t being touched, cuddled or played with says Bush. She adds that a scan showed that their brains were 20% - 30% smaller than mine or yours.
You can see how important sensory stimulation is because there is that interaction and interplay - there’s the opportunity for children to care for something else, somebody else.Nikki Bush, creative parenting expert
