'Soccer bosses should implement campaigns to address fan behaviour'

Former Banyana Banyana captain, Amanda Dlamini says she is shocked as to how the South African Police Services could have allowed the chaos at Moses Mabhida Stadium to happen.

This after a riot broke out at the Moses Mabhida Stadium which saw a security guard brutally assaulted, fans injured and equipment destroyed.

Speaking to Ray white on The Midday Report, Dlamini says the warning signs have been there from the previous three games Kaiser Chiefs played.

I think it was preempted that something like this would happen because we saw for the last three games of Kaiser Chiefs the fans really starting to show how displeased they were with the outcomes of the games.

Dlamini says when the PSL took the game to Moses Mabhida Stadium, they should have realised there would be more fans to control. Soccer bosses should implement campaigns to address fans behavior in stadiums, she adds.

I think because the powerhouses of football are there, they have powerful campaigns when they are having crowds come into the stadiums, they can also have powerful campaigns to reach out to fans.

I think it's a deep-rooted issue that needs to be sorted out and I doubt it's a law enforcement or security measure.

The fans really get involved in the game. It's not about passion anymore. That is concerning on it's own that there's so much at stake all of a sudden in the world of football. It has become so much of a business more than the passion on it's own.
