Political Desk: Threats of a provincial shutdown if Mahumapelo is not removed

News24 Political Editor, Mahlatse Mahlase, says removing a premier of a province is a specific and difficult thing to do.

The North West province has been experiencing a series of protests as residents call for premier Supra Mahumapelo to resign.

The African National Congress has been discussing the issue to find a solution.

Speaking on the Political Desk, Mahlase says because the motion of no confidence against Mahumapelo is not going ahead, the ANC is having to act.

I have been speaking to a lot of NWC and NEC members and many of them are saying; you know at the way things are looking is either there is a special NWC to deal with this matter or they call a special NEC to actually respond to the crisis.
