Tshwane residents can now book for driving licence online

Licensing centres in Tshwane have started using an online booking system for driving licence card renewals.

The online system lets users make an appointment to renew their driving licence and offers a delivery service to courier your new card.

READ: Has someone hacked the road traffic system?

Speaking to Aubrey Masango on The Afternoon Drive, MMC for Roads and Transport, City of Tshwane, Sheila Senkubuge said the reason for the online system was due to long queues and people being inconvenienced.

Sometimes the queues get cut even when people just go there to get their licence renewed. You will find that in certain areas they don't have parking. So it really has been an extremely tedius process for the people who live within Tshwane and who are using those services.

She said Online Company SA developed the system independently.
